Planning Engineer (Solar Projects)
We are recruiting a Planning Engineer on behalf of our client, a global EPC and O&M provider delivering turnkey utility‑scale solar power plants. As their project pipeline in Romania expands, this role will join the on‑site execution team in Arad, supporting the construction and commissioning of a large‑scale photovoltaic project.
In this position, you will develop, monitor, and update the overall construction schedule, ensuring proper sequencing and progress tracking across civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities. You will work closely with the Construction Manager and all site disciplines, maintaining visibility on project performance, identifying risks early, and ensuring that milestones are achieved on time.
This is a hands‑on, on‑site role for approximately two years, with the possibility of extension depending on project pipeline and performance
Location: Arad (Graniceri)
If you’re ready to support one of Romania’s largest solar developments and contribute to the country’s renewable energy transition, apply now and let’s see if it’s a match.
Responsibilities
You will prepare and maintain the master schedule, develop daily, weekly, and monthly plans, monitor critical path activities, and identify potential delays. A core part of the role is ensuring proper sequencing of works — from civil activities to mechanical installation, DC/AC works, MV/HV systems and commissioning.
You will track daily and weekly progress, collect data from Site Managers and subcontractors, prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, maintain dashboards, and highlight risks or bottlenecks. You will support KPI monitoring, milestone tracking, and project performance analysis.
Subcontractor coordination is essential, ensuring alignment between their schedules and the project baseline, monitoring productivity, and supporting the evaluation of planned vs actual progress.
You will assist with project controls, including manpower forecasting, equipment and material availability, resource allocation, and claims preparation related to delays or variations. You will maintain proper planning documentation and support final handover preparation.
Cross‑functional coordination is key: you will work closely with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, QA/QC, HSE, Procurement and Commissioning teams to ensure full alignment between engineering deliverables and site execution.
Skills & Competencies
The role requires strong technical knowledge of construction planning, EPC execution, and project sequencing. You must be able to interpret schedules, progress curves, resource plans and commissioning timelines, and understand how they integrate into the overall project strategy.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and coordination skills are essential, together with the ability to work under deadlines and project pressure. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) is required, while experience with Primavera P6 or MS Project is considered an advantage.
A practical understanding of site execution realities is crucial for accurate planning and progress evaluation.
Preferred Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is mandatory. You should have 3–5 years of experience in construction planning for industrial, infrastructure or energy projects. Experience in utility‑scale solar projects is a strong advantage, together with familiarity with EPC project execution and progress measurement.
Fluency in English is required. Experience with commissioning schedules, grid connection milestones, or project controls is considered a plus. A Master’s degree in Engineering or Project Management is an advantage.
