Senior Data Engineer
For our business partner, a global leader in sustainable wood processing with operations across 80 markets and seven production facilities in Europe, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer. The company is committed to developing high-tech products from renewable wood sources and drives innovation through close collaboration with scientists and industry experts.
As part of its digital transformation, the organization is developing a modern, cloud-based data platform to facilitate smarter decisions and support scalable growth. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping data architecture, modeling trusted datasets, and delivering results alongside the Head of Data & BI.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Collaborate directly with the Head of Data & BI to define and implement platform architecture (Microsoft Fabric / Azure).
- Contribute to standards for ingestion, storage, modeling, and security.
- Influence the BI roadmap with scalable, future-ready solutions.
Data Modeling & Engineering
- Design and optimize pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Model data using star schemas and semantic layers to deliver reusable datasets.
- Apply SQL and Python (pandas, PySpark, APIs) for advanced transformations and integrations.
- Implement CI/CD and automation for reliable, modern DataOps.
Governance & Quality
- Establish monitoring frameworks for data reliability, lineage, and freshness.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across the organization.
Collaboration & Enablement
- Partner with BI Developers to deliver semantic models and Power BI datasets.
- Drive the migration from SSRS to Power BI with standardized, governed datasets.
- Identify opportunities to streamline integrations and reduce technical debt.
Must-Haves
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Proven experience with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).
- Strong data modeling skills (star schemas, semantic layers).
- Expertise in SQL and Python for large-scale data processing.
- Hands-on with ETL/ELT tools (Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Pipelines, Synapse, Databricks).
- Knowledge of data governance, quality, and master data principles.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD practices for data pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and business needs.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Power BI datasets and semantic models.
- Exposure to large-scale cloud migration projects.
- Familiarity with ERP integration (SAP, MES)
