We are looking for a Software Engineering Director for our business partner - a technology company whose global business is driven by shared experiences.

This is a senior engineering leadership position that includes site leadership responsibilities for the Bucharest location. This person will have a solid understanding of software development life cycles, with a passion for building and operating quality products, is strategic-minded while hands-on, and possesses proven experience in creating a best-in-class software organization that thrives on challenges to deliver quality products and services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and define the development strategy for all the engineering teams in Romania.
  • Be the leader of the team and ensure their motivation. Be involved in the attraction, recruiting and retaining strategy of the company. Make sure that strong mentoring, career development and success planning actions are put in place.
  • Focus on business objectives through continuous improvement of the team, processes and systems.
  • Ensure the appropriate information flow in the organization and use relevant communication tools in order to create visibility on the results of the products teams.
  • Manage the budget and set the schedules, costs and resources, within that budget.
  • Be able to focus on multiple different projects different in terms of complexity or scope.
  • Take responsibility on successful delivery of the projects and make necessary changes with focus on the business impact.
  • Onboard smoothly and gain fast in-depth knowledge of the products and the entire ecosystem.
  • Work closely with the leadership teams in terms of providing feedback, define strategies and put them into action.
  • Be the local representative of the company, with legal responsibilities, including signing documents.
  • Participate in defining and leading the Bucharest site culture.
  • Be the company’s role model in terms of employee engagement and ensure large-scale visibility of the company’s initiatives in this area.


Skills we are interested in:

  • Extended experience in a senior leadership position within a technology company (10+ years of software engineering experience, and 5+ years in a senior leadership position)
  • Strong leadership skills & people management, empowering teams to deliver and operate best in class products and services.
  • Prior experience in managing large teams  (100 + team members desirable) in a matrix organization
  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, or related experience. A master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in shipping large scale consumer e-commerce systems based on headless design and micro-services based architectures.
  • Previous experience with product development and engineering teams, putting all the efforts to bring world class experience to customers.
  • Technical mindset, able to deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems, easily understanding the interconnectivity between hardware and software components.
  • Ability to communicate with both - engineering teams and company’s executive team in strategic discussion.
  • Excellent English written, verbal and presentation language skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible and experienced in dealing with ambiguity.
